Welcome to the home of GMC!

The Greater Middletown Chorale is an auditioned symphonic chorus committed to excellence in singing while preparing and performing choral masterworks and other outstanding choral music for all generations of listeners. While it is based in Middletown, Connecticut, many of its members travel from far outside Middlesex County to participate.

The Chorale, with a current membership of about 65 singers, performs at least once each year accompanied by a full orchestra of professional musicians. Twice in recent years the Chorale’s members have been invited to join in performances with the Hartford Chorale and the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. The Chorale provided music for both of Governor Jodi M. Rell’s inauguration ceremonies, as well as one of her Christmas open houses. In April 2008, it will undertake its first overseas tour, performing in Vienna, Salzburg and Prague.

Joseph D'Eugenio, Artistic Director of the Chorale since 1998, has led the Chorale to its expanded performing schedule and increased visibility. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from the Hartt School and a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from the University of Connecticut. Mr. D’Eugenio is also is the Music Director at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, where he directs the Youth Choirs and Senior Choir while overseeing an extensive music program.

The Chorale is always looking to add experienced singers in all vocal categories. Contact Us to schedule an audition with Mr. D'Eugenio.
